How to get from Nice airport to Monaco by bus
Much like to Cannes, Nice Airport operates an Express Bus #110 that leaves from the airport every 30 minutes and takes you to Monaco Monte Carlo Central, making a few good stops along the way. The bus takes the freeway and the trip to Monaco lasts around 35 minutes.
How much is the bus from Nice airport to Monaco?
Bus tickets cost 22€ and are available for pruchase from the ticket windows at the airport, from the driver (make sure you have cash/change) or online in advance. Tickets are valid on any bus for the day.
There can be up to a 30-minute wait for the bus.
The bus is available between 06:00am - 08:00pm.
Where do I get it from?
The bus is available from terminals 1 and 2, which are clearly marked for the Express Shuttle; you should pass the ticket windows before reaching the bus stop.
The bus is available from the airport, which saves any further transfer time, however it can be quite crowded and therefore if you are unable to get on the bus you may have to wait for the next one which can add a lot of time to the journey. As well as this, the bus price is quite expensive.
Tickets purchased for the bus do not guarantee you a seat. If you purchase a ticket it is valid for the day and so you might have to wait for the next bus if it is too crowded.
Cannes and Monaco Express bus services do ticket deals - return for 33€ and group of four for 66€.
If you have a lot of luggage, be warned the bus might be crowded and luggage space is limited.
Under 26 year olds travel for 16.50€ and under 12's travel for 5€.
How to get from Nice airport to Monaco by train
The best way to take the train to Monaco is to leave from Nice Ville Gare station, however this is not walk-able distance from the airport and will require a bus or taxi (approx 10 minutes, costing 6€) to reach. From here, the train will only take 25 minutes at most to Monaco Monte Carlo.
Alternatively, you can take the train from the St Augustin station which is within walking distance from Terminal 1 at the airport. The train is likely to take a bit longer from this station (around 35 minutes) but is easily accessed from the airport.
How much is the train from Nice airport to Monaco?
Depending on when you buy your ticket, the price can be as little as 3.90€ for the journey, however the average price is around 5€ if purchased from the station.
It is usually best to pre-purchase tickets at the airport booths rather than at the station as this can be cheaper and take less time.
There can be up to a 30 minute wait for the train.
The trains are available from 05:00am - 11:00pm
Where do I get it from?
The train can be taken from either Nice-St Augustin station or Nice-Ville Gare station. The latter is the larger and closer to Monaco, therefore it can make the journey a little quicker. However, you will need to take a bus or a taxi to reach it as, unlike St Augustin, it is not within walk-able distance of the airport.
Although the train is a fast and affordable method to reach Monaco it is not as convenient due to the fact that you will need to first transfer to a station to catch it which can cost time and money and is not ideal for those short on either.
If you are tossing up between the train and the bus, it is often less crowded on the trains, so if you have lots of luggage or are travelling in peak times, this is the better option.
Always check on the website in case of changes to train times.
You can get a good deal if you book your tickets in advance.
Make sure that you know the bus schedule to the station and leave yourself plenty of time to get there.
