Getting from Nice Airport to Monaco

Taking the train from Nice Airport to Monaco involves using the bus and train service. You’ll need to take Bus 21 from the Aeroport/Promenade stop on the main road outside of the airport grounds. The bus takes 5 minutes and you only need to ride two stops until Saint-Laurent-du-Var Gare. From here, you can hop on the SNCF train service to Monaco, taking 35 minutes to get to Monaco Monte Carlo Station. The total journey should taking just over an hour.

Alternatively, you can take the train from Nice St Augustin Station which is about 20 minutes on foot from the airport. The train is likely to take a bit longer from this station (around 40 minutes).

To travel by train from Nice Airport to Monaco, you’ll need to buy two separate tickets. Firstly, the public bus No. 21 will cost €1.50 and the train ticket will cost approximately €5.90, bringing the total cost to €7.40 – which is by far the cheapest option.

Bus tickets can be purchased at the vending machines or counters at the airport and train tickets can be bought at the airport or train station. It is usually best to pre-purchase tickets at the airport booths rather than at the station as this can be cheaper and take less time.

Although getting from Nice Airport to Monaco by train is an affordable choice, however, it is not as convenient because you’ll need to first transfer to a train station, adding time to the journey. Furthermore, if you’re travelling in larger groups or with heavy luggage, changeovers may not be something you want to avoid. In this case, we recommend taking a taxi or private transfer.
