What our customers say about Welcome

"Anabelia, our tour guide was wonderful. She guided us through history and food and made great suggestions and enabled us to understand Greek culture and the food. I would highly recommend this tour.”

Directions for your Djibouti Airport transfer

Djibouti Airport is just 7 km away from the capital, Djibouti city. To get you there, your Djibouti Airport taxi driver will first exit the airport by turning right onto the main road. This road continues for 3.7 km until you reach Ambouli district. Once there, your driver will turn left and then right onto a second main road, past Ambouli Park, and towards the bus station.

Your driver will take this road for another 3 km until reaching Rue de Zelia. They will then turn right onto Rue de Zelia and immediately left onto Rue des Issas. Rue de Issas leads directly to the central roundabout off Avenue 13 in the centre of Djibouti City. From there, your driver will use local roads to take you to your hotel.

Djibouti Airport taxi prices

Local taxis in Djibouti don’t operate on a fixed-rate tariff. Instead, the final fare is at the driver’s discretion and negotiating is encouraged. This is why local taxis are generally not recommended for tourists, as dishonest drivers can overcharge you if you don’t know the local rates.

You can expect to pay €9.30 (DJF 1,800) for a taxi from Djibouti Airport to the city centre.

If you want the peace of mind of having a reasonable set-rate fare agreed in advance and not having to haggle with drivers, we recommend pre-booking a Djibouti Airport transfer with an international, well-reviewed company like Welcome.

Frequently asked questions

Do Djibouti Airport taxis operate with fixed fares?

No, local Djibouti Airport taxis do not operate with fixed fares. They don’t have taximeters either. Instead, the fare is calculated by the driver and negotiating is common. The average price of a taxi from the airport to the city centre, and vice versa, is €9.30 (DJF 1,800). However, this rate isn’t guaranteed. If you’d like a guaranteed price for your taxi transfer, we suggest booking a private transfer instead.

Where will I meet my Welcome driver?

Your Welcome driver will meet you in the Arrivals Hall once you land. It is a small airport with one terminal building. Your Djibouti Airport transfer driver will be holding a sign with your name on it to help you spot them. The day before your flight, we will also send you the driver’s name, photo and contact number in case you have trouble finding each other. You can also use your Welcome Pickups mobile app to locate your driver.

What happens to my booking if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is delayed, we’ve got you covered! Your driver will be receiving live updates of your flight status to ensure they are there to meet you when you land even in the event of an unexpected flight delay.
