Directions from Medellin International Airport (MDE)
José María Córdova International Airport (MDE) is the second largest airport in Colombia after El Dorado International Airport of Bogotá. It is located in the city of Rionegro, 25 kilometres south-east of Medellin’s city centre “El Centro”, and takes around 30 minutes to reach by car or taxi using the newly built tunnel “Túnel del Oriente”.
So when your driver exits Medellin airport, they will follow the signs “Acceso Área de Salidas, Aeropuerto José María Córdova”, they will then get on to “Aeropuerto José María Córdova-Rionegro” and “Las Palmas-Aeropuerto José María Córdova/Variante Las Palmas” for about 1 km. After that, your driver will take the “Túnel del Oriente” to “Cra. 46” in Medellín and stay on this road for about 25 min (21.3 km). From here, your driver will continue on “Cra. 46” before taking “Cra. 50/Av. Palacé” to “Cl. 53/Av. De Greiff” for another 2.2 km. At this point, you will reach Medellin city centre, or also called “El Centro”, and take the local streets to your Medellin hotel.
Taxi fare from Medellin International Airport
Many taxis serve Medellin José María Córdova airport; there are white taxis and yellow taxis. White airport taxis have an agreement to serve the airport, and three companies offer white airport taxi services: Acoa Taxi Aeropuerto, Aerotaxi, and Rápido Medellin Rionegro. These taxis are mainly used by foreign travellers to-and-from the airport.
Both yellow and white taxis offer a set price of €17.30 (COL$ 80 000) for all their Medellin Airport to city centre trips.
Please note that there is no higher fare for night or weekend trips and your overall taxi fare includes tolls from the airport.
