Travel safely with Welcome Pickups
Net Safety Score
We’ve introduced a metric indicating how safe travellers feel when using our services during the COVID-19 pandemic. After every ride, we ask each traveller to leave a review.
20 minute gap between transfers
Following each ride, our drivers have at least 20 minutes to thoroughly clean the surfaces of the car and ventilate the cabin.
Regular Car Sanitisation
Our drivers thoroughly sanitise and disinfect cars according to Welcome Safety Protocol
When you book, you can request to have zero contact with the driver during the transfer with just one click. In this case, the driver won’t help you with your luggage or shake hands.
Sanitiser in every car
We provide hand sanitisers and hand wipes for all our travellers. Our drivers have their own sanitiser, which they use before and after every ride

How to get a taxi in Medellin
There are two types of Medellin taxis: white taxis and yellow taxis. White taxis have an agreement to serve the airport, and three companies offer white airport taxi services: Acoa Taxi Aeropuerto, Aerotaxi, and Rápido Medellin Rionegro. These taxis are mainly used by foreign travellers to-and-from the airport.
If you are travelling around the city, taxis are very easy to find as there are over 30 taxi companies in the Medellin metro area; during the day you can hail a taxi directly from the streets if you see that the vehicle is vacant. Nonetheless, during the night, it is best to either go to the closest official taxi rank or to directly call a taxi company, as hailing a taxi at night can be dangerous. Going further, if you call for a taxi, the service provider will send over a secret code to be given to your driver, this is to confirm that you are the same person that ordered the taxi.

Medellin Taxi Tips
- Make sure your Medellin driver resets the taximeter to the base fare before you begin your journey.
- Tipping your taxi driver in Medellin Columbia isn't common, but is always appreciated. Most passengers round up their end fare to the higher amount.
- All tolls along the way are payable by the passengers.
- Unfortunately, most Medellin taxis do not accept credit card payments, only cash payments in Columbian Pesos
Wheelchair Accessible Taxis in Medellin
Unfortunately, finding a wheelchair accessible taxi in Medellin is very difficult. Most of Colombia’s taxis are small vehicles that are not easy to get in or out of and often have little space for wheelchairs or other bigger items. Moreover, only a very small amount of private companies offer this service, and you would need to pre-book your wheelchair accessible taxi online.
Safety and Complaints for Medellin Taxis
If you have encountered a bad experience with a Medellin driver, you can file a complaint through the “Secretaría de Movilidad” website. However, to do so you will need the taxi’s license plate number. In addition to this, you will also need your travel location, the fare and approximate time of the fare.
