What are the taxi prices in Dubrovnik?
Dubrovnik taxi rates are usually calculated using a taximeter based on distance and time elements. However, there are some cases where your driver may offer a fixed fare, for example, from Dubrovnik Airport, between the Old Town taxi stands and to the Gruz bus station. You can find examples of fixed fares and the official taxi tariffs inside the airport in Terminal B and at the official taxi stands. If you’re taking a metered taxi, your fare will be calculated as follows:
Base fare: €3.36
Price per km: €1.08
Taking a taxi from Dubrovnik Airport to the city centre will cost a fixed fare of €25 or €30, depending on the zone you’re travelling to.
Extra charges:
It’s worth keeping in mind that there may be extra fees for travelling during major holidays, transporting large luggage items (over 10 kg) and keeping your driver waiting for an hour (€7).

How to get a taxi in Dubrovnik
Finding a taxi in Dubrovnik is extremely easy, as there are hundreds of taxis driving around the city streets. If you’re catching a Dubrovnik taxi from outside of the Old Town, you can hail one in the street, call for a phone dispatch taxi, use an app or walk to a designated taxi rank. Taxi ranks can be found around the main tourist spots, the bus station in Gruz, the ferry terminal, Dubrovnik Airport, Pile Gate, Ploce Gate and Lepad.
How to get a taxi from Dubrovnik Airport
Taxis are available from all three terminals at Dubrovnik Airport. As you exit the Arrivals Hall, you will see the line of white taxis waiting. There will be around a 10-minute wait for a taxi from Dubrovnik Airport during peak travel times. To avoid the wait, you can also pre-book your Dubrovnik Airport taxi with a trusted company such as Welcome Pickups. Unlike taking a taxi from the city, there’s a fixed fare of €30 for taking a taxi from Dubrovnik Airport to the centre of Dubrovnik.
How to get a taxi from Old Town
Old Town is pedestrian-only, so vehicles are not permitted inside its borders. If you’re looking to take a Dubrovnik taxi from Old Town, you will need to walk to one of the two taxi ranks, either Pile Gate at the west entrance, or Polce Gate at the east entrance. Taking a taxi from these taxi ranks won’t guarantee a fixed fare, your driver will use a taximeter to calculate the cost of your journey.
How to get a taxi from Gruz Bus Station
There’s a dedicated taxi rank located just outside of Gruz Bus Station. You will see the long line of cars waiting as you exit the station. Taxis from this rank usually use a taximeter to calculate your journey, but they also offer some fixed fares for journeys to the airport or the city centre.
Dubrovnik taxi apps
To avoid walking the streets to hail a taxi or find a taxi rank, you can always use a Dubrovnik taxi app. There are plenty of taxi apps to choose from in Dubrovnik, including Uber, Bolt, Radio Taxi Dubrovnik and Plavi Taxi Dubrovnik.
However, most of these apps don’t offer fixed rate fares and will often charge higher tariffs than regular taxis. To enjoy a ride with a fixed all-inclusive fare, you can pre-book your trips around Dubrovnik with a trusted company such as Welcome Pickups.
Useful Dubrovnik taxi numbers
If using an app isn’t your style, you can always call for a Dubrovnik taxi. There’s one trusted company that offers phone pickups: Radio Taxi Dubrovnik, which you can call on +385 (20) 411 411. It’s important to note that there may be up to a 15-minute wait for your phone dispatch taxi to arrive and that this Dubrovnik taxi service is subject to higher fares and surcharges.
Why book your Dubrovnik taxi in advance?
There’s nothing better than having your vacation planned, booked and budgeted for, so all you have to do is enjoy it. While local taxis offer a 24-hour transfer service, you may have long wait times for your phone dispatch taxi during busy travel times or bad weather and the metered taxis always leave you guessing when it comes to price. On the other hand, by booking your Dubrovnik taxi in advance, you not only ensure on-time pickups and zero waiting times, but you also secure fixed all-inclusive prices.
If you’re looking for world-class service and friendly, English-speaking drivers, we recommend booking your Dubrovnik taxi in advance with Welcome Pickups.
